DADEVILLE, Alabama — Four people were killed and many people injured in the Saturday night shooting in Dadeville, the Alabama Law Enforcement Service said.

WRBL-TV reported the shooting took place in a dance studio during a possible birthday party. The state Law Enforcement Agency released little information about the shooting. The station aired footage of the crime scene around a brick building.

There was no initial confirmation as to what caused the shooting. It is not yet known whether the suspect has been detained.

“This morning, my thoughts are with the people of Dadeville and my fellow Alabamians. Violent crime has no place in our state, and we remain informed by law enforcement as details emerge,” Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said in a statement posted on social media.

Dadeville is about 57 miles (92 kilometers) northeast of Montgomery, Alabama.
