CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago firefighters battled an extra-alarm fire at the Edgewater building Tuesday morning.
The smoky fire broke out in the 1100 block of West Thorndale Avenue and damaged a third grocery store, restaurant and business.
CFD said the fire appeared to have started in a pizzeria and then spread to two other store fronts, which suffered damage.
There were no reports of injuries and the fire did not spread to the second-floor apartment, said the CFD.
The fire broke out near the Thorndale CTA stop, but there was no indication that train service was disrupted.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
