His family said Tuesday afternoon police informed them that his car was found in an alley minutes from his home with the body of an unidentified woman inside. It is unclear how the person died.
The family said they are working with authorities to identify the individual in the car.
“There is a void,” said brother Andre Baer. “It's not a good feeling. I'm not even sure how to, like, honestly explain it to you. But it's sadness. It's frustration. There's a bit of anger.”
His brother said the last time Baker was seen was when he was leaving a friend's house near 76th and King Drive around 10:30 p.m.
His family said he took a detour home and that led them to believe someone else was driving the car.
“It doesn't make sense because he lives south of where he is and east so he goes west to go south to go east. It doesn't make sense, so we don't believe he was driving the car.” ,” said André Baker.
Andre Baker said his sister has two children, and that he should have picked up one of them from school on Friday but didn't, which is when they reported him missing. The next day he missed his other son's graduation. Andre Baker said this was out of character for his sister.
“He's excited. He's planning a party,” she said. “Everyone loved him because he always made sure that others and their well-being took precedence over his own.”
Baker worked in a dental office near 51st Street and Pulaski Road, and was known for being thorough and organized.
Baker is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds.
