CHICAGO (WLS) — At least eight people have been shot, including two fatal shootings, in the city since 6 p.m. Friday, Chicago police said.
In the latest fatal shooting, a man was killed and another injured in a shooting Friday night in the Back of the yards.
Antonio Andrade, 39, was standing on the sidewalk just before 8 p.m. in the 4700 South Ada Street block when someone opened fire, hitting him in the back, Chicago police said.
Andrade was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Another man, 28, suffered a knee injury in the shooting and took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. He's in good shape.
Around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, a man was shot dead in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
The male victim was standing in the 2900 block of West Lexington Avenue when he was shot multiple times, Chicago police said. He was later declared dead.
No one has been arrested for the murder, and county detectives are continuing to investigate.
Two people were shot on the South Side of the city late Friday, police said.
The male victims, 28 and 40, were in the 4700 block of South Ada Street when they were shot, police said. The 28-year-old victim suffered abrasions to his knee and was taken to hospital in good condition. The 40-year-old victim was shot in the back and taken to hospital where he was initially reported to be in critical condition.
No further information is immediately available.
