CHICAGO (WLS) — Most of Chicago's southern suburbs and parts of Northwest Indiana were under a severe thunderstorm warning and watch late Sunday, with some continuing into Monday morning.
The main threats to hurricanes are lightning, hail and heavy rain, and areas south of Interstate 80 were the hardest hit, said ABC7 Meteorologist Mark McGinnis. The system caused a flood as they slowly moved east.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Iroquois County through midnight Monday.
A Flood warning Valid for LaSalle and Lee counties until 12:30pm Monday.
Other Flood warning Valid for Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, Will counties until 12:15pm Monday.
While the strongest parts of the storm had moved from the area by 10:30 pm, moderate to heavy rain was still falling in Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Livingston areas. About six inches of rain fell north of Morris in Grundy County, according to radar forecasts.

McGinnis said there were reports of zero visibility due to a cloud of dust Sunday night around Streator in LaSalle County. Wind gusts reached 62 mph near Lostant in LaSalle County, causing the road sign to bend.
A Dust Storm Warning valid for parts of the southern suburbs, but has since expired.

McGinnis said the storm interacted with the lake's breeze, but would weaken as it swallowed up cooler air.
Cloudy, humid and much cooler weather is forecast for Chicago on Monday.
