ANGEL — Jackie Zeman, known for his role on the ABC soap “General Hospital”, has died. He is 70 years old.
Zeman has been on the show for over 45 years. His family told ABC News that he died after a brief battle with cancer.
Details about his death weren't released, but Executive Producer Frank Valentini took to Twitter late Wednesday and issued the following statement:
“On behalf of our General Hospitals family, I am saddened to announce the passing of my beloved Jackie Zeman,” he wrote. “Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she is a bright light and a true professional who brings so much positive energy with her to work.”
Valentini said his “positive spirit” will be missed and “will always live with our cast and crew.”
Zeman had several minor roles before landing a regular role on the ABC soap “One Life to Live” where she played Lana McClain until 1977.
Later that year, she was finally cast as Bobbie Spencer in “General Hospital”.
A statement was posted on the event's official Twitter account, saying Zeman left a lasting legacy.
