A man was shot dead and a woman injured as they tried to flee an attempted carjacking Monday morning on Grand Boulevard.
The two were in the car at about 12:10 p.m. on the 4900 South Calumet Avenue block when two men with pistols approached them and tried to steal their car, Chicago police said.
The gunmen shot the victims as they left, hitting the man several times in the body and once in the leg, police said.
The 20-year-old man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The 22-year-old woman was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.
No one is in custody.
