Major delays for Metra drivers after a car crash sent the vehicle onto the track

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) — Metra riders on the Union Pacific North Line experienced a major delay Monday morning after an accident sent the vehicle onto the track.

Two cars were involved in the incident which occurred near Highland Park station.

The train that was scheduled to arrive at the Ogilvie Transport Center at 5:23 a.m. was stopped at around 4:45 a.m. because of the incident, according to Metra. At 6:13 the train was moving and experienced a “long delay”.

At least three UP-N trains that were scheduled to not operate due to vehicles stuck on the rails, according to Metra.

Two cars were involved in the crash, and it was not clear if anyone was injured.
