One person was killed, another injured in a shooting in Austin

One man was killed and another man injured in a shooting Saturday morning in Austin on the West Side.

At about 3:55 a.m., the two men were on the sidewalk in the 500 North Lamon Avenue block when two men approached them and opened fire, Chicago police said.

Charles Lawrence, 35, was shot several times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

The second man, 28, suffered lacerations and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park for treatment, where he is listed as in good condition, police said.

Nothing was held.
