Sunbeam recalled about 43,000 electric blankets because of the fire hazard

Sunbeam announced it was recalling thousands of electric blankets, saying they could overheat and catch fire.

The recall involves 43,000 queen-sized blankets sold from September 2022 to January 2023. They are being sold online on Amazon and in other small independent stores across the country.

There were 13 reports of blankets overheating but no reports of injuries.

Sunbeam announced it was recalling about 43,000 electric blankets due to the potential fire hazard.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, anyone in possession of this blanket should remove it and stop using it immediately.

Anyone who bought the blanket can get a refund by completing the blanket online registration form.

Officials also said users would be required to destroy the product. That can be done by cutting the power cord at the plug, marking an “X” with a permanent marker on the wash tag and sending Sunbeam a photo of the crumbled blanket.

To identify if you have one of these blankets, the clerk says to look for the Sunbeam logo and model number printed on the wash tag.

The model number is 32810027.
