CHICAGO (WLS) — A man wanted for allegedly killing a florist in Oakland, California has been arrested in Chicago.
Eric Locelvira is accused of shooting and killing Matthew Gaidos in late June.
Chris Folse was in the area and he said he heard “One very loud bang immediately followed by the victim screaming ‘help me!'”
Folse barely escaped the line of fire itself. He was walking his dog around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. As he entered his apartment building, he heard gunshots.
“It happened very quickly. It was an altercation in the street. Apparently there was an altercation between two people and it escalated very quickly,” he said.
Surveillance video shows Locelvira walking some dogs, then arguing with Gaidos right before the shooting.
Officials said the victim was delivering flowers and made a comment to a man passing by. The exchange of words ended with the victim throwing a vase of flowers and the suspect firing a gun.
