FAIRFAX COUNTY, Virginia — A wild video shows a very close call from a Virginia police officer with a car going out of control during a Monday morning traffic stop.

Video released by Fairfax County Police, shows a car speeding across several lanes to the other side of the road and into a car that has stopped along the shoulder of the road.

One police officer, who suffered minor injuries, was cut as he ran out of the way.

A 17-year-old who was driving in the opposite direction at high speed lost control of his car and collided with a stopped car on the side of the Fairfax County Parkway near Braddock Road, police said.

Everyone involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old man was charged with reckless driving.

“The Fairfax County Police Department is relieved that this accident did not result in tragedy,” the Fairfax County Police said. “This is an important reminder that life can change in an instant. It is a driver's responsibility to drive safely and arrive safely. Parents and guardians should consider using this video as an opportunity to talk with their teen drivers about how their driving behavior may affect other people's lives.”
